Note: The information contained in this article is structured as help information for the System Management Interface Tool (SMIT) and is not intended for general reading.
Identifies the logical name of the CD-ROM drive.
Identifies the predefined device type of the CD-ROM drive.
Identifies the type of drive interface. This is the same as the predefined device subclass of the CD-ROM drive.
Identifies the logical name of the adapter device to which the CD-ROM drive is or will be attached.
Provides a short text description of the CD-ROM drive device.
Indicates the current status of the CD-ROM drive. Possible values are available, indicating that the CD-ROM drive is configured in the system and ready to be used, and defined, indicating that the drive is defined to the system but not configured.
During write operations, the drive can use the write cache to store data that is to be written to the medium at a later time. This is called write caching. Enabling the write cache will improve overall data throughput as it reduces the access time to a logical block during write operations.
WARNING: Enabling Write Cache can lead to deferred errors or optical media becoming out of sync with operating system or an application. If power loss, system crash, or drive errors occur, while an action is being performed on this drive, then the action should be repeated.
Indicates the SCSI ID and logical unit number (LUN) used to address the CD-ROM drive. The format is x,y where the x variable is the SCSI ID and the y variable is the logical unit number. Typical SCSI devices have mechanical switches for setting these values.
