Country or region where the system is located

Enter the country or region where the system is located. If that country or region is not listed, select a neighboring country or region.

Operational setting

IBM provides customized web tools and functions that use information collected by the IBM Electronic Service Agent. The access to these functions is managed by an association between your IBM IDs and the Electronic Service Agent information from your systems. The association is made using this entry. To obtain an IBM ID go to http://www.ibm.com/registration.

Port number to listen on for GUI requests

The port number on which the subsystem listens for incoming client GUI requests. The default port number is 5024.

Create/Change Service Configuration

Creates or changes the service configuration needed for all service and support applications.

Primary or backup configurations can be created for the service configuration.

Restore Default Configuration

Restores the default connectivity configuration.

An "Are you sure?" panel will be presented. When you press enter, the default configuration will be created.

Manage the Service and Support Proxy

Allows you to create, change, start, and stop the Service and Support proxy on this system or logical partition.

Change Connectivity Settings

Allows you to change the settings that control the connection retry attempts and the connection establishment timeout.

Configure PPP for Dial

Specifies configuration values required to establish a dial connection. This option requires the bos.net.ppp package is installed.

Create/Change Primary Service Configuration

Creates or changes the primary service configuration.

If the primary service configuration fails, the system or logical partition will attempt the connection using the secondary service configuration, and then the tertiary service configuration.

Create/Change Secondary Service Configuration

Creates or changes the secondary service configuration.

If the primary service configuration fails, the system or logical partition will attempt the connection using the secondary service configuration, and then the tertiary service configuration.

Create/Change Tertiary Service Configuration

Creates or changes the tertiary service configuration.

If the primary service configuration fails, the system or logical partition will attempt the connection using the secondary service configuration, and then the tertiary service configuration.

Connection type

Specifies the connection type by which this system or logical partition will connect to the service provider. You can connect using the current system or logical partition, or through another system or logical partition.

Specify Direct Internet to connect through this system or logical partition using a direct connection to the internet as the connection type. Use this option if this system or logical partition can access the internet using one or more active TCP/IP interfaces.

Specify HTTP Proxy to connect through an HTTP or Service and Support proxy connection configuration. If you specify HTTP_PROXY you must also specify IP address, Port number, Authentication user ID (if required), and Authentication password (if required). This information provides the server with the information needed to connect to the destination proxy server.

Specify Not configured to delete the service configuration.

Enable

Specifies whether the connection should be enabled. If it is not enabled, it cannot be used to connect to the service provider. Specify Yes or No.

Test service Configuration

Specifies whether the service configuration should be tested at this time, by attempting to connect to the service provider. Specify Yes or No.

TTY port number of modem

If DIAL is specified for Connection type, the TTY port number which the modem will use. Use the list function to make a selection.

Modem type

If DIAL is specified for Connection type, the modem type which will be used. Use the list function to make a selection.

Primary telephone number

If DIAL is specified for Connection type, the primary telephone number that will be dialed to connect to AT&T Global Network Services (AGNS).

Alternate telephone number

If DIAL is specified for Connection type, the alternate telephone number that will be dialed to connect to AT&T Global Network Services (AGNS), if the connection attempt using the primary telephone number is unsuccessful.

Dial prefix

If DIAL is specified for Connection type, the dial prefix if required.

These digits will be dialed before the primary or alternate telephone number is dialed to make the connection. Add any numbers or characters needed to obtain an outside line, pause while dialing, etc.

IP address

If HTTP_PROXY is specified for Connection type, the IP address of the proxy server through which this server will attempt to connect. This can be either an IPv4 or IPv6 address.

An IPv6 address is an 128-bit address represented as 8 16-bit integers separated by colons. Each integer is represented by 4 hex digits. Leading zeros can be skipped, and consecutive null 16-bit integers can be replaced by two colons (one time per address). Some examples are, fe80:abcd:0000:0000:0000:0000:0260:8c2e:00a4, fe80:abcd:0:0:0:0:260:8c2e:a4, and fe80:abcd::260:8c2e:a4.
