Identifies the logical name of the adapter device where the tape drive is attached.
Provides a short text description of the tape drive device.
Indicates the current status of the tape drive. Possible values are available, indicating that the tape drive is configured in the system and ready to be used, and defined, indicating that the tape drive is defined to the system but not configured.
Indicates the SCSI ID and logical unit number (LUN) used to address the tape drive. The format is x,y where the x variable is the SCSI ID and the y variable is the logical unit number. Typical SCSI devices have mechanical switches for setting these values. The value specified in SMIT must agree with the physical setting of the switch on the SCSI device.
The Return Error on Tape Change or Reset attribute, when set, causes an error to be returned on open when the tape drive has been reset or the tape has been changed. A previous operation to the tape drive that left the tape positioned beyond the beginning of the tape upon closing must have taken place. The returned error is a -1 and errno is set to EIO. Once the error is presented to the application, the error condition is cleared. Reconfiguring the tape drive will also clear the error condition.
