5. Installation

Normally you don't need to care about the installation of KMix. KMix is shipped with nearly all Linux distributions. On other platforms you need to download KMix

5.1 How to obtain KMix

KMix is a core application of the KDE project http://www.kde.org. KMix can be found on ftp://ftp.kde.org/pub/kde/, the main ftp site of the KDE project.

5.2 Requirements

In order to successfully compile KMix, you need an installed KDE1.0 or KDE1.1. These releases can be found on ftp://ftp.kde.org/pub/kde/. Look for a stable KDE release, KMix is contained in the kdemultimedia package. Mirrors can be found under http://www.kde.org/mirrors.html.

5.3 Compilation and installation

In order to compile and install KMix on your system, type the following in the base directory of the KMix distribution:

% ./configure
% make
% make install

Since KMix uses autoconf you should have not trouble compiling it. Should you run into problems please report them to the KDE mailing lists.
